Depending on how your state's animal cruelty laws are worded you could be facing some very realistic cruelty charges should anyone find out about the iguana in the box. I forget, was it ever seen by a vet after the tail broke? Definitely negligent if s/he wasn't.
Go right ahead and stick with the answer that you liked best - the one that fits YOUR lifestyle as opposed to the answer that tries to correct your so called husbandry practices. Iguanas ARE arboreal meaning they need to be up high - as opposed to in a box. They DO need heat. They DO need UV light. The DO need a specialized diet as opposed to something as useless as lettuce. Yes, this is one more answer that you're not going to like but when you are already approaching this so completely wrong of course you're going to want to have someone tell you that you are doing the right thing. One way or another, the iguana will either have a long, slow, painful death that could drag out for several years, OR it might get "lucky" and expire within a few months thereby foregoing months or years of potential agony.
