: I recently went into a pet shop asking for an Iguana and was directed into a back room behind the fish tanks where there were 5-6 of the sickest most miserable, half-dead iguanas i have ever seen, cold open air cage, little water, no food, absesses, bone disease and mites.
: What can I do to liberate, or help these abused iguanas?

What state and county are you in? Different parts have the country have different laws regarding cruelty and exotics. I'm in NY and used to work for the ASPCA. Maybe someone there can help you. The national Humane Society might be able to as well.
I sympathize because I just bought two Solomon Island skinks and will take a third from this guy who got into buying herps wholesale and reselling them from his basement. But he keeps them horribly!! The whole basement smells and animals are lying in their excrement, frequently have no
water and have bowls of rotting vegetation in their tanks which are infested with fruit flies! I tried to tell this guy that this is a disgrace and he should clean up his act, but he just says "uh..yeah,yeah" like a zombie and still does nothing. I've given a report to the ASPCA and to some helpful fellow employees who have
more influence there than I do. But it's harder to bust someone in their own home because of privacy laws. I only buy the skinks because he doesn't advertise himself and so they would just sit there and rot if I didn't take them! The guy is 47 and lives off his poor mother for CHrist's sake! What should I expect?
Anyway, enough venting for me. If I can think of anything I'll let you know. The TV spot is a great idea! Call all the stations persistenly. Bad news always gets the front page! Good luck getting those SOBs!
