: Has anyone out there looked into building an outside enclosure and the existence of a plexi-glass or glass (not screen) that WILL ALLOW UV TO PENETRATE? If you have, email me. We've found plans for the sunroom, but I have to find something that will allow the UV to penetrate. Apparently, greenhouse growers don't want UV, because their glass blocks it.
It's not that the growers do not want it, just that greenhouse plastics are coated on the side that faces the outside to prevent UV penetration, as the plastics would break down from the UV exposure. Cheaper plastics keep the cost of greehouses down.
What you are looking for is a product from General Electric called Lexan Thermoclear. This is what the San Diego Zoo uses for providing light for Cuban Iguanas at their Center for the Reproduction of Endangered Species.
