growths on igs jaw

While at a friends house I noticed one of his two iquanas had a growth on each side of his lower jaw.One growth is larger than the other and appears to have a small scab in the center.I told him it didn't look right to me and was told he was eating fine.So I decided to "ask the experts"here,since I'm the only one of us on the internet,and haven't had alot of expirience with iquanas.Is this a life threatening affliction or is there a chance for recovery?I myself would take him to a vet but evidently my opinion doesn't carry enough clout so could anyone share some of their expiriences with this kind of problem so I could relay them on.Thanks
