As she gets used to you, you will be able to give her more freedom. I let mine free roam when I am home to supervise it. She is finally calm enough to know better than to run away when I walk up to her(most of the time). I keep a close eye on her so she doesn't go places she shouldn't (that is under any heavy furniture, behind the console TV, etc.) And I have the living room and kitchen pretty much ig proofed. That is, no breakables where she can reach them, no toxic plants, or even non-toxic ones for that matter, where she can get to them, or she would just demolish them! She loves to sit on the back of the couch and look out the window. It will just take time for her to learn to trust you, so that when she does do the flying iguana thing from the sofa (and she will!), she won't get scared and run when you come to retrieve her.

: Hi everyone,
: I got a new {atleast to me}2 year old female iguana. She is really sweet, and is still a bit nervous, but gives me kisses and loves her bath. The only problem {other than all the scratches on my arms..lol} is that I know she wants to be able to walk around on her own, but I don't know how to do it so it is safe for her, and everything else in my house. I did let her crawl around on my couch the other day, she went to the end and did this kind of flying iguana thingy off of the sofa onto my speaker almost breaking a glass clock. But of course when my husband and I jumped she got scared, ran around the living room, then under the couch. I did get her back but she was scared and a bit shook up. I know I need to give her time to get used to my house, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

: Thank you all very much. I love this forum.

: Kim R
