mean iguana

I bought another igana about a week ago. while i was at the petshop it seemed kinda calm and everything but when i got it home it went crazy. it takes forever for me to catch it so i can even hold it. when i am holding it he whips his tail every chance he gets. he hasnt tried to bite me yet. im afraid hes really gona hurt himslef cause he will run full force to each end of the cage and slam into the wall and shoot up the side. my question is what is the best way to tame him? thanks in advance,
