spikes falling off???

Hey again everyone i just joined the forum. I have an iggy my first probably out of many. She was a rescue well i got her from a rescue and her spikes are falling off. She is in shed now. She is only about 1 foot long and 2 years old very stunted growth. And one suggestion was that it was what happened when the spikes get strangled by shedding skin. At first i thought it may be dehydration but i am now not sure of anything. She is also eating great. Please anyone with any knowledge on this whatsoever help me. Anything would be greatly appreciated.
