: Any ideas about sex would be appreciated.
: Do you think those are breeding colors that will fade as the seasons change?
: Last night we were chilling on the couch. Jubjub was checking out my jacket, sniffing and licking all the lining and up into the sleeve. He then proceeded to take a nip of the collar. I touched his nose and said "Don't do that." Then a minute or two passed and he came over to sit on my lap, and proceeded to sniff and lick my arm, from my fingers up almost to my armpit (but it tickled and he pulled away when I laughed). As he was doing his investigation, I reached for the remote, and he bit my inner arm!
:

: It wasn't a bad bite, I mean 'cause he could really take a chunk out of me if he wanted to. I hardly even believed he bit me but a few minutes later a small red welt rose up, but it's gone today. It was like he was telling me to sit still and let him lick! Or maybe my movement startled him.
: Anyway, I'm completely taken with him. I offered him some turtle salad last night, but he didn't seem too interested. It was a stressful day, though, so I am going to let him get acclimated and time to warm up before I fret over his eating habits.

He looks a lot like mine (mine's a male) and mine has orangey spikes, too. The jaw looks okay. If you mean it's bigger where the "discs" are, that's normal. They sometimes puff them out. When mine drinks water, they get really puffy and then go down.
Look at the base of the tail. Is it real swollen looking past the vent? If so, it's probably a male. If the pores on the thighs are large that's another indication (most females have pinpoints).
Igs mature around l8 months or so (if not taken care of properly, it could take longer).
If it's a male, you might see a bit of aggressive behavior. Mine will nod differently when he's "in the mood" and will go after some little stuffed iggies we have. You will see semenal (?)plugs every so often, if it's a male.
