You weren't long winded at all :-)
I personally keep my semi-new adoptee away from the cats we have. Cats are natural predators of iguanas, and should be considered as such, no matter how "sweet" they are. Psyche (my iguana) is given free time only when I've confined our cats to another room. Dogs are basically the same story. Inquisitive natures can lead to dead iguanas, no matter what the intentions.
Having said that, I do have to acknowledge that some people say that their igs and other pets get along like old pals. I think you should avoid potential mishaps, and perhaps let them *see* each other, but any interaction should be from a distance, with one of the parties securely held in your arms or restrained.
Your ig will definitely feel more stressed if forced to deal with his natural predators, especially early in his time with you, and ESPECIALLY if he's never had to deal with them before in his last home.
I'd leave any cautious, distance-inclined interaction until well after your iguana is in his new home and been re-socialized and de-stressed.
good luck with your new "kid" :-)
