Male or Female?

I have had a rescued Ig, named "Ig", who I have had nearly a year now. I have been told that Ig is a she, but, also that Ig is a he. How can I tell for sure? Ig has never tried to nest, and sometimes bobs it's head at it's relflection, or when another animal is near by. Any ideas??? Thanks in advance!
