Although I haven't ordered bulbs yet, I called up Active UV and talked to them first about the bulbs and about delivery. This was about 8 weeks ago.
The person I talked was very friendly and helpful and he said that they were current out of stock of the flood light and only had a few of the spot lights in the lower wattages. They were expecting another shipment of the lower wattage floods ( those below 250w) within about 1 to 2 weeks. He said that if I wanted any, I should order them and have my order placed on back order status- that way I would be guaranteed that my order would be filled. As far as the higher wattage bulbs - it would be 3 to 6 weeks before those came in. He also recommended that I order everything I need - then wait for the shipments to arrive and then they would ship as the products arrived.
Needless to say, I said I would think about it and that was it.
From my experience of 20+ years in distribution, import and export - and - based on the your experience and the experience of others - I can make the following educated guesses about Active UV Heat:
1) They have a major cash flow problem - meaning that due to demand, they need a lot more product than what they can purchase at any one time- they probably have to pay cash or very short term payment ( like 10 to 30 days due ).
2) Because of the lack of cash to keep inventory in stock - they will have long gaps of no inventory before each shipment arrives
3) Whoever is making these Active UV bulbs cannot keep up with production - meaning that stock will always be in short supply no matter who carries the bulbs - unless you have a lot of available cash to get your order before some other distributor.
4) All related to the above: Active UV is a very small operation - probably with a few people all trying to make a living off of it. Being as small as they are, they will always have difficulty keeping product in stock - especially if there is an unexpected rise in demand.
Of course my guesses could be totally wrong, but from what I have seen, I think I am close.
Nonetheless, unless you feel like being a loan agent to these guys, basically giving them your money so they can use it until their stock arrives, in which case they would be "robbing Peter to pay Paul" , then I would go someplace else. I would not feel comfortable being the person that sent them a bunch of money only to have them "belly up" in the mean time cus they they got too successfull and couldn't afford it.
