Hello:
I have owned my Iguana (Godzilla) for a few weeks but I am his 2nd owner. Godzilla's first owner gave him to me as a form of payment for money that was owed to me. There are quite a few really good websites about our little friends. I did some research prior to receiving him and lots of reading since. I believe Godzilla is a typical little boy of 24 inches. In the morning prior to me going to work I hand feed him cut up veggies and fruit, be careful many are not good for Iguana's. While I am feeding him I talk to him and I am holding him while he is feeding. At night time I do clean his home and remove any food that might remain. I also take care to clean the water bowl. While I am no where near a expert or even a seasoned owner the material I found on the internet was very helpful. I hold or let Godzilla out of my cage as often as I can. I have three kids running around the house, who spook him but he does not run. The only trouble that I have had is with one of my Cats, it just does not appear that they will ever be friends. I hope this helps. It is soooo cool to have something like a Iguana, trust you enough to eat out of your hand 8). I will point out one last thing. All of the sites pointed out the need to wash hands everytime any reptile, including Iguana's are touched.
