: Hello,
: I'm adding squash to my iguana's diet and am wondering what is the best way to serve it. I've heard people say you can cook it before serving. Can you also serve it raw? And how would you cook the squash? Microwave? oven? boil?
: thanks for the help. It mentions squash in my Iguana manual, but doesn't go into detail how to prepare it.
: thanks again.

Yes, raw is fine (no one cooks for them in the wild - LOL). I DO cook butternut squash for my ig, though. For some reason he will eat it that way, but NOT raw. Anyway, I use butternut squash, cut it in half, take the seeds out. I then put it in a plastic baggie (twist it shut, but don't use a wire tie) and nuke it until it's fork tender (5-l0 minutes depending on the size of the squash). When it cools, you can give the ig a nice large spoon of it. I also put my alfalfa tea (dry) and crushed calcium carbonate into the squash, so the ig gets his nutrients.
I save the squash in a container and then each day, nuke a spoon of it for about l0 seconds until it's not cold. Try it yourself -- it's delicious!
