It's been awhile since I've gotten up my soap box so I thought it was time to drag it out and dust it off.
The problem is that even IF there were a state qualified vet participating here on the forum (or any forum for that matter) it IS AGAINST THE LAW for them to diagnose, perscribe or treat an animal without seeing the animal in person. Going on common sense, which I know from time to time evades people here on the Net, it stands to reason that if it's illegal, there must be a reason for that. Let me phrase it this way -If you were having a medical problem, would you jump on the net and let strangers attempt to diagnose you?
The fact is that in MANY cases where vet care is needed but not provided is that the person didn't have the financial ability in the first place to properly care for the iguana. Pets are not a necessity, even if they are wonderful to have in the home. If a person has a difficult time making ends meet as it is, the LAST thing they should do is bring home ANY animal that has specialized care requirements.
It intensly bothers me when I see such a carefree attitude on this subject. The bottom line is, while the Interent can be a great tool to research and learn, it should not be used as a replacement for vet care. Yes, ask others what they think MIGHT be wrong but only a vet should attempt to treat an animal.
