Mike, if the ig is not stressed, eating a good diet well, fully hydrated, and no parasites, (in good health), at the proper temps, and is young, shedding can be almost constant. Since igs shed in patches, a rapidly growing ig can be ragged with shed somewhere all the time. Having said that, if shedding is not this constant, it doesn't mean there's a problem, but shedding IS directly related to growth rate. If your ig doesn't shed often, it isn't growing rapidly, and if it's young, it should be. A ballpark figure for a youngster would probably be 6 to 8 complete sheds in a year, but don't take this to be absolute. Again, many factors affect growth rate, and thus shed frequency...
