Raylene, the carrots have a poor calcium to phosphorus ratio, and should not be fed regularly. Some occasional grated carrot is acceptable, but NOT regularly. Continued feeding of carrots and other veggies with a poor calcium-phosphorus ratio will cause metabolic bone disease, a terrible desease of the skeleton. Actually, the carrot tops are better for him than the root. If he likes grated carrot, please try grated butternut squash. This is a real staple of my Ig's diet, and they really like it. It's a great substitute for carrot. Give it a try.
I would also go easy on the paw paw for now. Most fruits have a lousy calcium - phosphorus ratio, and I don't know about paw paw's, but will do a little research. By the way, where are you getting the paw paw's? I live in Kentucky, and we have them growing wild here, but most people are unfamiliar with them.
The wrinkling is a possible sign of dehydration, and keeping the food wet is the key. Good luck.
Keep asking questions.

JohnT
