Most of the time, when a broken bone is healing, a bump forms around the break. This bump is usually soft tissue which acts to protect and secure the break so that it can heal. Even after a bone is healed, there is usually a hard calcium lump around the break site which usually slowly dissipates. I have broken my own fingers, and seen some on Igs, and bumps are normal. One of my fingers which I cracked while working on a car five years ago still has a knob.
