In Reply to: Why are bananas bad to feed often? posted by Diana on November 25, 2001 at 13:44:46:
Diana, bananas are high in potassium and phosphorus, and are therefore counterproductive to keeping your ig's calcium levels balanced, as we all try to do... They are not bad if used in moderation, and a small piece to help through this period won't hurt, but they should not be fed on a regular basis. As a for instance, bread is high in phosphates, but I give Bug a little every couple of weeks. It's not enough to be a problem. Then the question is: how much is too much? Varies with the individual ig, but err on the side of caution...
Best,
JohnT
