Going on a trip hows this for the ig...

Ok two hour trip in a dog carrier... Then at the house where we are tsyaing for about two days, can i just let him free roam the rooms where i cam to keep an eye on him, and to set up a basking area in the back room where he can stay? I also have a warm humidifier that i can set up near his area. How would this be. Hes 30 inches long, so he somewhat resistance against cold and that kind of stuff and too big to get lost.
