Samanella can be passed from anyting to anything, from veggie bought in the store and eaten, handled and then handling any pet or from kitchen counter to humans. This is one of the main reasons for washing veggies, besides removing any chemicals on them. Samanella is NOT that common in the USA, but a real problem in other countries that have open markets and warm climates. Use common sense in handling any food or pets, wash hands between and counter that food is prepared on.
