Hi all!
Just wanted to let you all know that my baby iggy (his/her name is Gizmo) is doing pretty well. She's eating about 1/2-1 cup of food per day and sleepin on her basking rock or under her half-log. She's pretty snuggly already (for a reptile, that is!) but sometimes she goes a little loopy when she's out of the cage (darting around and stuff). Which is fine except that I HATE crawling under the bed and fishing her out of the heater!! :-)
Anyway, I just had a few more random ig questions (I have now purchased MK's book but it has yet to arrive). First, I saw that lots of you guys feed your igs dandelion greens and escarole. Not being a big veggie eater myself I have no clue where to get either of these. Would they be at some specialty store or are they regional or what? I went to the Wal-Mart super-duper grocery but I couldn't find them. Second, how old do iggys have to be before they start having babies? I'm CONSIDERING breeding them someday and I just wanted to know how long it would be before she(he?) was ready. She/he is supposed to be about 3-4 months old now. Third, do any of you have enclosures that you DIDN'T build for when they got bigger? I'm not really what you'd call handy and I'd prefer to have a cage NOT guaranteed to fall apart. I saw some reptariums on the Net but they didn't sound all that big. And I haven't been able to find ANY made out of plexi-glas.
Anyway, I suppose this was a little wordy - sorry bout that and thanks for reading if you got this far. Thanks also for any suggestions!
