: Ok I made a huge salad today it consists of Collard greends, Escarole, and Red Chards are sliced and tossed together with a little bit of apple in it some green beans, and some butternut squash. Does this sound good for my iguana? I looked for dandilion but i couldnt find any. Also is there a better way to slice and mix up the foods im usuing just my hands and a knife and it doesnt work that well. Thanks
I don't make salads for my iguana. I tried it a few times, but had better luck serving the food in separate little piles. I usually buy collards every week and then at least two other greens.
I store the collards, chard and turnip tops in a pitcher of water (keeps them crisp) and the dandelions, escarole/endive, mustard greens, kale, etc., I usually wrap in paper toweling and put into a plastic bag to keep them fresh. I take a bit of each, run it under water and give it to Max (usually three choices). I also have a low rectangular dish of water and I put the leave's stems in there to keep them fresher all day.
When I make butternut squash (in the microwave), I put it in a small container in the fridge; same thing with beans. Then each day I take a spoon and nuke it a few seconds to take off the chill.
I also buy snap peas, squash, fruits, etc., and either cut them up and put them in a divided dish (with a little water on the bottom to keep the veggies fresh)or cut them daily.
As I said before, I did try a salad, but it didn't go over well with Max. Max loves ripping at whole leaves and did even when he was tiny.
