: Hi! I just recently got my second iguana ever, and since the first had turned out to be a female, I had never been aware of how prominent the femoral pores could be on a male. Baby 'Zilla is just 12.5 inches STL, but his (and I do mean His) pores are already enlarged and showing the protrusions. I suppose my question is: Is it usual for an Iguana to be this evident this small? With Ugly, my last Iguana, no one seemed sure of her sex because of her dorsal crest and other features untill she laid 60 eggs (really, we knew by the first one, but you know...).
: Anyway, any response would be cool. Just wondering.
: Thanks,
: nate.
My other board said it's usually difficult to tell an iguana's sex until it's at least a year old. You didn't say how old yours was. They also said sometimes it's a lot easier on some iguanas than others. I thought mine was a male until I looked at the pictures and then thought it was a female and now I think it's a male again. Mine is at least l8 months old and 3 feet long and I can't say I'm l00 percent sure.
