It does take time and lots of it to tame an ig down.We have always put one of our clean old t-shirts in the enclosures that we've rubbed over us.This allows the ig to get use to your scent.We also don't use any fragances while we hold the new lizard and we wear the shirt two or three days that we've held the lizard on.This also allows them to smell themselves on us.
Move slowly and talk softly and just be patient.These poor creatures look at us as predators coming after them,,so try to be eye level with them not come from above.
We started trimming our kids nails very early,this helps them get use to it before they become very large.Cirsis my female ig is 5ft and 13pds and I'd hate to have her mad at me while I trim her nails.She even lets me file them.
