In Reply to: cage too big for a green iguana? posted by Erin D on November 02, 2001 at 11:07:56:
: My teahcer has a green iguaua that someone gave to him. He is keeping it in a 10 gallon aquarium with a lid and a stick. It is at least 8 inches long without counting a tail he has a big tak\nk in his room like 120 or so I dont know the measurements he said it is too big yah right.. is that true? the 10 gallon has to go its not fair to the lizard. let me know what you think
My iguana free roams (unless I go away for a weekend and then he's in a dog pen for a day). Too big is like saying -- keep it in the bathroom because the living room is too big. How would your teacher like to live in a little closet for the rest of his(her) life instead of a house? That's kind of what this is like. An iguana should have a cage at least one and a half times it's size or more so it can climb, live and turn around with room to spare.
