cage too big for a green iguana?

My teahcer has a green iguaua that someone gave to him. He is keeping it in a 10 gallon aquarium with a lid and a stick. It is at least 8 inches long without counting a tail he has a big tak\nk in his room like 120 or so I dont know the measurements he said it is too big yah right.. is that true? the 10 gallon has to go its not fair to the lizard. let me know what you think
