Well I made a rope ladder for mine. I also mad him a thick rope braided together to be even thicker. I gotta say, he loves the ropes-- took to them immediately (especially the single rope) and uses only those ways to climb as opposed to his plastic ladder option. My ig is 4 feet if that helps. He never chews on them. I have wondered about getting a nail caught, but it hasn't been a problem. As far as an ig eating the rope, that all depends on your ig. Sleestack never would (he's not one for eating things he shouldn't except carpet... but then don't all igs eat carpet???) My last ig, however, could not be trusted with any materials in his cage except big plastic ones that wouldn't fit in his mouth!!! (he ate newspapers, papertowels, clothes, toys, rocks, spare change, etc.) Would I trust him with rope??? NO WAY!

Here is a photo of my cage (minus some plants and accessories now added)
