I also keep Cyclura iguanas...and plan on breeding them someday. You can't compare GGI's and Cyclura or PTS's or any of the other lizards that are highly endangered. There are many many thousands more GGI's in the pet trade than you will see Cyclura. No one has the resources to farm Cyclura in mass numbers like the Greens. GGI's can lay clutches of up to 100 eggs. Cyclura may lay 12-15 per clutch. Bob Ehrig is doing a wonderful job with the Cyclura and I have a Rhino coming from him later this month. I've also seen David Blair's animals and they are nice lizards. When I have my first clutch of Cyclura eggs I'll be elated...but I'm still freezing any eggs laid by my Greens.
If your friend is going to breed his albinos I hope he puts a very high price tag on them, even if they are hets. The problem there lies in the fact that only people that plan on breeding will pay a high price for a het....therefore people interested in a pet iguana will still be going into the pet store and paying $9.99 for their iguana while your friend's hets remain unsold.
Take a look at this picture and tell me who's misinformed...I see this dozens of times a year.
