injections of what? and can you find another vet?
it sounds like an infection and/or abcess and since it is growing and spreading, it needs attention that it's obviously not getting from your current vet ...
when iZ hurt his tail, the part that was swollen also lost some color (that has since come back) and i'm going to guess that that is also the reason for Robert's foot losing some color ... the crustiness is because something is seeping out ... either serum (a colorless blood product) or pus (yucky color) ... neither is bad in itself, it's the body's way of relieving some of the pressure of the swelling so it is actually probably good ...
the swelling may also cause the scales above to come loose and eventually fall off ... (iZ's tail scales did) it'll look yechy, but again, that in itself is not bad ... keep cleaning the area daily ... dilute the betadine to 1/2 strength or use hydrogen peroxide ... full strength betadine is extremely hard on tissues/skin/scales and may cause the skin/scales to break down quicker if you're using it every day ...
i don't know what the injections were, but even if they were antibiotics, it's obviously not enough ... Robert needs to be on oral antibiotics (Baytril) for a good ten days AND have a topical antibiotic .... because igs are cold blooded, their bodies heal much slower than a mammal's would and that's why just one shot won't work ... find another vet who will actually TREAT what sounds very much like an infection that is spreading ... this is probably not an emergency so you don't have to just accept *any old vet*, but do get it looked at SOON! it is spreading down his hand and it does have the potential to spread to other parts of his body, including into his blood (sepsis) which he can die from ....
which brings us back to the age old question of how to find a good ig vet!
good luck and bright wishes!
iZ's mom
ps. soaking it in warm water may help the swelling by softening the area and letting more of the fluid out ...
