Hi Cheryl -

I transport my igs in medium sized animal carriers. They make for good temporary housing as well.

Let me say that I do not think taking an ig into a class room is a bad idea. I know of several classes that have several reptiles as class pets. I also have the priviledge of knowing Grandma Judy in Tucson, Arizona, who, for years took "Iggy" to visit the children in the schools in Arizona. She and Iggy became celebrities and were even featured on Animal Planet in a segment entitled "I Know Who You Bit Last Summer"..which was a kinda dumb name, but none the less.

I have two igs, one is 8 and one is 7 yrs old. I wouldn't consider taking my male out in public but I know without a doubt that I could take my female into any classroom and let the kids pet her and not have a lick of trouble. I know my lizards THAT well. Mine may be "wild animals" by label but they are the furthest thing from being a wild animal! I've had them since they were small enough to lay in the palm of my hand and they are now full grown, healthy, beautiful, wonderful friends to me and to each other. And yes, they are free roaming. I couldn't imagine having an iguana who wasn't social and yes, I admit at times Kermit can be a tad on the ornery side, but he knows who the boss is and he is pretty good otherwise.

So I say take your lizard in!! Kids need position education in regards to reptiles and I know you probably want to show off your friend as well! Also...if you'd like, I can put you in touch with the lady I know who for 17 years took her iggie into classrooms...take care and good luck!

Judy

: Hello!
: I am teaching 1st grade and want to take Squiggs (iguana) to school for a lesson. She is about 3.5 feet long and I can't bring her cage in. Any suggestions on what I could safely carry her and keep her in at school so both she and the kids are safe? I really want to bring her in but can't think of what I could keep her in all day???
: Thanks,
: Cheryl
