I guess I should have mentioned that I posted a message back in Sept., and I got a lot of advice that I have tried. The green towel has become a "security blanket" of sorts (but won't "get it on" with it) and I got a couple of fake ig's but he just stomped over them and came after me. I have tried to let him free roam out his 75 gallon tank, but he just takes over the house and I have to close him off in a space til he falls asleep. He's a little angel (most of the time) when he's in his tank but he freaks out outside of it and actually knock over things in the house (sometimes on top of himself). Thanks for the advice. I guess it's just wait & see. If there's anyone with a past "neutering" experience with their ig, please let me know.
