Hi Heidi, It is impossible to say without seeing it. If it is just surface scale damage and is responding to treatment, then I would just continue to treat it. If it is deep or ANY signs of infection are present, professional care would be critical. Mine on occasion have given themselves bloody noses but after a few applications of Neosporin and a few weeks they are fine again.
