And again, the HSUS is pro-animal. They think of the animals first, humans second. Yet they know that most of the world certainly will not react that way, so they may use things like statistics on human injury and illness to win their points.
To jump to communism is more of an extreme than banning reptiles as pets. I don't like our government telling me what to do any more than you do, but in this case, for the sake of wild, living things, I'm willing to chuck that aside and see the bigger picture.
The US will not go communist over something like this. THAT is silly. If it were the type to go communist, it wouldn't take the time to even deal with an issue like this, which is such a non-issue in most other countries, where poverty-stricken populations don't have time to think about keeping pets 'vs' animal welfare.
The motivation for our government to put all these rules into effect is not about slowly controlling us, but rather, the voter's agenda. People's concerns, people's safety and health issues, are what brings these little ridiculous things up to the political podium. Not communism. YOu think if a government wanted to go communist or socialist, it would sneak its way in?! Communist governments simply take over! They police you to death, and if you don't like it, you have their armies to deal with! Their tanks, bombs, guns, you name it.
You think in any other country communism started with iguanas?! That is crap!
And as to letting people find out the hard way which reptiles are good as pets and which aren't, who do you think suffers more? The kid who gets bitten on the arm by an iguana, or the iguana that was likely mistreated the whole time before with a cramped tank, no heat and bad food? The iguana that likely ends up being thrown out, dumped at the pound, or whatever? Who suffers in the long run?
THAT is what is crap. It's not just about people's rights. It's about non-human LIVES!!!!
Keeping reptiles is not a RIGHT! It is a repsonsibility and a PRIVELIGE!
