You've described the daily behavior of any testie iguana! If you always go away during this behavior, you will reinforce it! He doesn't want you around and he knows you'll go away if he does these things. From time to time I will let Sleestack settle down, but most of the time I make him submit to being petted and tolerating my company! There can be only one Alpha-- and I'd like that to be me. Slee puffs up 80% of the time when anyone approaches his cage (but no whipping or anything else). After taking him out of his cage, he immediately puts his dewlap back in. He just wants people to know that the cage is his property...doesn't want me moving in or anything! LOL
: -breathing heavily
: -tail whipping
: -pyshical threats; such as arching his back, leaning towards you, or opening his mouth
: -huddling in the corner of the cage in an odd position
: -trying to get as far away from you as possible
: -restlessness
: Its important that you leave your iguana's sight ASAP if he shows these signs, because its showing that he is stressed out, and doesn't need to be streesed out anymore. After all, he DOES think you are trying to eat him. Good luck.
