You probably have Melissa Kaplan's ig site saved off.....look under taming for some hints. Time and consistency IS important. So is not letting them beat you at their game! When holding you should release when YOU are ready otherwise they do learn that all they have to do is hiss and you'll leave the area.

If it helps any, our female has been tacky to me all week! The male has been like a little puppy and she's been....well, like another word for female dog LOL She is in the middle of shedding her tummy & back and doesn't want people messing with her. You might want to just put your hand in next to her and talk to her for a bit. Give it a few days before you touch. Maybe she just needs a little space for one reason or another.
