Huh...here's a website on taming new igs (link below)..I think its pretty good. I wouldn't be swooping in his tank just yet...give him a couplea weeks to get used to his new digs...just feed and clean up his tank (I'd consider another type of substrate...one that won't require so much cleaning and is not a harbor for fungi)like paper towels,indoor outdoor carpet panels, even blk & white newspaper.
After he is eating on his own, settled in, you can then start handling sessions...like in a bathroom (less escape avenues) as far as him banging on things avoid chasing him about the tank with one hand corner him with the other snatch him up gently. During handling...pay particular attention to stroking his tail...get him used to his feet and tail being handled..for future nail clipping, and so he won't drop his tail (defense mechanism..autotomy)later.
