Alright Rebecca & Shirley!!...keeping our fingers and claws crossed here that the a/b and Vit. A shots work so Shirl can get back to being her onrey ole self!
I HIGHLY doubt its hypovitamintosis A. Not very common in green iguana on a good hi calcium diet/ hi fiber diet. But I do see where your Docs thinking is (swollen eyes), its much more common in turtles and torts especially following hibernation mode. Also majority of the time if its renal failure you'd see swelling of the lower abdomen (he may have palpated the lower abdomen area) and vomiting or not being able to swallow, no interest in food (cuz the throat swells)

Good deal...if you need a recipe for slurry...my fav. is one can of Ensure and pureed papaya or banana to a nice thick paste. Then syringe feed it. Also with Shirl being on anti-biotics...keep up with the water intake and also once the Doc is just about ready to end the a/bs think about going to a health food store, refrigerated section and purchase some probiotics (I prefer the triple filtrated types w/ bifidum, lactobacillus, and longum) cuz ya know those a/b not only attack harmful bacteria but also the good stuff..about 5 days of it, one cap (w/ 1+billion live cells) to restore beneficial microflora. Can open up the cap and sprinkle it on a piece of fruit (its tasteless)or wet whole wheat bread, or in the slurry you feed that day.
***caveat if buying probiotics..about 60 caps is $8. Get one with the longest shelf life (usually should last 2-3 years) and ALWAYS keep it refrigerated!! Its amazing to me that the human body is comprised of 4 LBS!!! of bacteria. Since iggies need beneficial bacteria so MUCH because they are hindgut fermenters and need it to digest cellulose of plants, I bet mature igs have a lb or 2 of just bacteria in their gut.
and I think Shirley is a WONDERFUL name!! lolol
Oh Rebecca sorry Im rambling here...Im so tired. Also:
Im not suggesting that YOU *have to* do anything other than follow your vets advice..... I just type that way (very bad habit)
Im the weakest link...yer excused ...goodnight!
