Yes it is normal for them to go 12 hours without light. Iguanas need complete darkness in order to get a sound sleep, like humans. So a good 12 hours a day under a basking light and UVB light, and 12 hours a night in darkness is very normal. Some people use a red light at night to keep their igs warm. But if the temperature does not go below 80, a night light is not needed at all. Good for you for asking!
