These mites are Hirstiella trombidiiformis can be black or red.
The blackened demarcations to this iguanas scales are inflammation/damage caused by mites. I read somewhere this discoloration occurs when the mite saliva mixes with the blood of its host when mite feeds, causing some kind of alteration/damage to the cells.
The black scales your iguana has can be from either a history of having mites (which imports are notorious for having), or just the natural coloration of maturity coming in.
Usually the blackened scale damage from mite feeding is raised or pitted,irregular in appearance than the other scales, can have a dead "necrotic" dried shriveled appearance too.
