I'm wondering if it's much like w/ puppies who are most impressionable the first 3 months of life. I know if a pup goes thru any type of trauma (mental, physical) during this time in their life it can very well affect their whole lives (ie. abuse from a male during this time frame can make them fear men where as abuse from a male at an older age most likely will only make them fear that man).
