By force feeding I mean opening his mouth and putting drops of liquid food in his mouth (can this cause problems?), not tube feeding. He swallows on his own. I tried the drop on the snout before seeing the vet but he would only drink 2-3 drops a day. By opening his mouth I can get him to drink/eat more. Wouldn't it be best to liquefy regular ig food instead of using other stuff as long as I can get it in him? I tried baby food before seeing the vet but it was thick enough he could push it back out of his mouth. The veggies in water seem to work well because he can't push it back out...it runs right down his throat even if he tries to get it out. His temps are at around 98 degrees in his basking spot and 80-95 every where else. He has a bowl of water under his basking light for himidity but I mist him a couple of times a day normally but have increased this since he's been sick. I've been soaking him in warm water in the tub daily since he's been sick also. I don't have access to hibiscus but was advised by the vet to try crushed tums in the liquid food. Any idea how many CC's of liquids a baby ig should be able to hold at a time? Both times yesterday I got about 1 cc of liquid in him each time. Doesn't sound like much but he's only 3 1/4" SVL.

: If I were you,I'd get some ensure and pedylite and try making a slurry from the Ensure with some pureed collards and see if you can just put a little on his snout.Force feeding can cause some real problems if you don't know how to do it properly.Pedylite mix with water an drip it on his nose to get his drinking reflexes going or open the side and drip a little in his mouth. How are his temps in his cage?Mist him often and if he's good aobut taking bathes,,give him some bathes. You might want to run the sink faucets for some humidity too,,steam up the room a little.Baby food mixed with the slurry will help also.Is his humidity right?
: Hope this helps alittle.Have you got access to hibiscus bushes that are chemical free? Most igs love hibiscus and the leafs are good cal to pho ratio.
