I have a few questions to see if anyone else is dealing with this. Our regular vet seemed to think that this wasnt a problem with Double D but after blood tests results showing a glucose of 229 before a meal of any kind, after consulting with a few people I have been showen that this is a very high glucose level. Id just like to get opinions if anyone else has ever dealt with this. WE all know Double D has came from horrific conditions before hand. Problems that lead up to this blood tests was two chocking episodes last one being so sever that her tounge turned blue/purple, not eatting like she should (amounts that is) and just not her normal iguana self. Our vet seems to feel everything is fine. From several people I have consulted with who have also consulted with others all faxing double d's blood tests results it looks as if we have a problem on our hands. Could be a results from MBD previously, could be liver problem, or a diabetic iguana. We are starting to chart all feedings and daily habbits in a journal (well will start this all in the am) and are doing some dietary changes, including ommiting carrots and all fruit out of her diet. I know and am fully aware that this could lead to a flame or problem with the board on diffrent opinions. I just want to see if anyone else is dealing with this anyone elses RESPECTFUL opinions. WE truly love Double D and want the very best for her, all people I have contacted and gotten advice from I fully and totally trust, our vet I have very little confidence in him due to the fact that for one he can not find any previouse medical files (he was the one treating her before I got her), he gave a shot before getting tests results, he wanted to put off blood tests even after I asked for them after her problems, he chalked up TWO chocking episodes to coincidence to her other behavor, said she was in the SUMMER time BLAHS ???? Treated for worms a second time without checking for them again. YES this is a SUPPOSDLY accredited reptile vet. Any and all respectful, non flaming advice is appreciated.
