Updating Rescue Listing and More

Hi everyone,

Some of you may have already received an email from me regarding this so I do apologize for this. I wanted to let you know that I have just installed a brand new search engine/directory on site, http://www.reptilerescue.on.ca, that is similar to the Yahoo-based directory. I will be eventually removing the current listing format, once everything has been entered into the new directory/search engine. Here is a brief list of the search engine features:

- End users can rate a link on a scale from 1 to 10.
- End users can add a review to any link.
- The search engine provides results based on relevance to keywords
- All search results are accompanied with links to the category where the link came from.
- End users can submit new links to be added to the index.
- You will be notified via email when your link is added to the index.

We have created many different categories ranging from care sheets, to organizations to marketplace listings. We invite you to re-submit your site to this new search engine under the applicable categories. You will note that under Organizations, there is a category for Rescues. You can now include a brief site description and keywords. Given the large amount of traffic that our site receives, especially from the US, I would recommend that you include what state/province you are located in, in both the description and the keywords so people can find you easier.

If you have sites that cover care information, or even individual care sheets (no matter what the reptile species), you can submit them as well to the relevant categories. The categories available are listed on our home page, with some of the subcategories listed as well. To see all the sub-categories, simply click on more.

In order to submit your site you have to be in the category you want to be listed in and then click "Add URL". To submit to multiple categories you will need to do multiple submissions - I apologize for that in advance.

Hopefully we will be able to direct some more traffic to your site with this search engine.

Once you have submitted your site, we will notify you once it has been indexed which will only take 1 to 2 days (compared to the standard 4-8weeks for many other search engines). We also invite you to submit your site to our associated site, Reptile Central's new search engine as well (http://www.reptilecentral.com). These two search engines operate independently from each other so if you would like to be listed in both, you will have to do 2 separate submissions.

Once last note - we also wanted to remind everyone of the free classified ads available on both sites which you are more than welcome to use to list what you may have up for adoption.

Thank you for your time and we look forward to seeing you listed in the new search engine. We hope this proves to be a valuable resource for people and hopefully everyone will benefit from increased adoptions.

Candace
