Everyone's been a huge help! I just want my iggy to grow go so she might be able to free roam and finally be a really happy iguana. If I find a way to make one really cheap (the new indoor cage was just finished), I might make her an outdoor cage. It seems like all the good greens aren't sold here (escarole is, though). I go to Indiana a lot anyway and they have collard greens, etc. :)
A little bit go, Zabouri was walking and climbing all around his cage :D
About her new cage-- it really isn't decorated and I was wondering if I should put some drift wood, vines, or etc. in it to make it look better and maybe Zabouri would like it better? When it's decorated (or if it gets decorated), do you want me to get a pic and post it here? I can probably get also get a pic of Zabouri.
: igs like to lounge around ALOT ~ iZ has days where i wonder if he's even gotten out of bed or not ~ that's pretty normal (and i think it's why iZ + i get along so well ~ *grin*)
: as long as they are active at least *sometimes* and show interest in moving to a preferred basking spot or bed and like to climb ... prob'ly ok ...
: a healthy diet literally can work miracles for an ig and yes, chances are Zabouri will start growing like a little weed ~ once she gets adjusted to her new food ...
: another thing to check if you haven't yet ... take a fresh poop sample to the vet + have it checked for worms + other parasites ... like puppies + kittens, igs DO have parasites until they are treated for them! they're pretty much 'born' with 'em ... THAT will also make a HUGE difference in Z's health AND growth ...
: check out The Basking Spot for detailed diet info ...
: ok to feed Once in a while, don't use as a regular part of her diet:
: kale, bok choy, Swiss chard, parsley
: no, no, no:
: romaine ~ it has ZERO nutrients and will only fill her tummy up without giving her ANY calories and/or good stuff she needs ~ total junk food ...
: alfalfa pellets ~ YECH ~ *most* igs won't touch 'em and not everyone agrees that they're actually *good* for igs ... besides that, igs can't eat *pellets*, so you have to soak them down til they're mush ... there are high-protein foods that are much tastier to igs, don't waste your time/money on pellets ... (IMHO)
: *good* greens:
: collards
: mustard greens
: turnip greens
: dandelion greens
: endive
: escarole
: cilantro (aka: italian parsley ~ i think)
: good luck!
: Bon. + iZ
