i used driftwood from a freshwater lake for Louie's cage, but first before placing the two big pieces in the cage, I soaked them in a weak bleach solution for several hours, let them dry overnight to remove anything living inside the wood or dirt/germs in general, and then placed them in there . Maybe this is something Beverly should consider, but if it is from the beach, I would soak it for an entire day or so remove the salts before puttin it in the cage. just my thoughts.
Beverly, in my opinion, you should get the driftwood out immediately. Driftwood is usually saturated with salt and salt compounds, and iguanas lick everything they touch or climb on. There is a good probability that this is the problem. You should get him to a vet immediately, and be sure you mention to the the vet about the driftwood. In the meantime, I would try to get as much water into him as possible. I suspect he's dehydrated. If he will eat, saturate the food with water before serving. If he won't, trickle a little in his mouth with a plastic syringe.
: Keep him warm, and good luck!
