I haven't kept up with KS very well lately, just a very busy time of year for me. Looks like I've got lots of reading to do.
As a side note, in scanning previous posts, I noticed a thread about breeding agression twords human females by male iguanas, so here's another take on that subject.
It appears that Bug (4 ft, 7 lbs) is going into season early (usually Sept.), and has become pretty agressive lately, which is nothing new. However, about two weeks ago, Mary entered his cage to do some cleaning, and as she bent down, Bug leaped onto her back and attempted to bite her in the back of the neck. She managed to control him, and escaped with a minor bite. Since then, he has taken to lunging at her when she approaches his enclosure. He doesn't do this to me, and I am convinced that he now views Mary as a viable conquest.
Now for the part which may be revealing: Without too much personal detail, Mary had started on a new hormone replacement therapy about 10 days before the episode. This would seem to indicate to me that there is validity in the theory that male iguanas do, indeed sexually react to human females under the right conditions.
Ah, well, just another pothole in this road we have all chosen....
Regards,
JohnT
