Like Amy suggested below...sounds like beginning signs of MBD (metabolic bone disease)...caused by a low calcium diet/lack of natural (sunlight) or artificial uvb exposure...the bones begin to soften creating soft tissue swelling usually in back legs or lower jaw first. Here's a couple of links to Reptile Vets...he'll prolly need calcium & Vitamin D injections to give him a jump start....really take a good look at his diet and also sunlight exposure buy a uvb lamp if you don't have one and can't get him out into the sun regularly. Feel free to ask away about diet, and any other things...in the meantime have him checked out pronto! Much luck!!!
