are you sure you have an iguana and not a chinese water dragon?!? (they're famous for the ol' nose rubbing thing)
never heard of an ig doing that, but i do know that it can cause SERIOUS infection AND lifelong deformity. how often do you take your ig out of his cage? even if it's a big cage, they are SOOO curious about the outside world. should be taken out for awhile every day.
3 sides of your enclosure should be completely opaque, cover it with something. (if it's glass, i've used tempera non-toxic paints on the outside- if it's wire mesh, even paper on the outside would work.) eventually, you may be able to take it of 2 of the side leaving only the back opaque, but for now, try 3 sides.
one more idea, does he have a place to hide? make sure he does.
good luck!!!

: Help! I cannot get my iguana to stop rubbing his nose. I've been using an anteseptic on it. It seems to scab over after a few days and then he will rub it down to the bone or bare skin again! Will this cause a permanent deformity(ie. his lower lip sticks out a bit further than his upper lip due to lack of scales there). I know it's not his living conditions because he has a huge cage (6'x4'x3') basking area of 94 degrees, plenty of uvb light etc. Do some iguanas just try to escape sometimes.
