Well I dont have a "baby" anymore my youngest turned 3 :(. Shes more susptiable (sp) to problems, a preemie with asthma now and very easily catches ANYTHING. We got Double D in February of this year. My daughters 6,5,3 yrs old KNOW how to care and respect animals. THey have been around animals since they were born from a big german sheperd mix to small gerbils. Only my youngest pets double d, hte other two are still convinced shes goign to turn into and aligator LOL. With Melissa she has clamed Double D as hers. Do I trust either of them alone NEVER at least not untill double d has been here a good two years or moer and melissa is at least 5 yrs old adn im talking alone as in same room for like 10 seconds. I do trust my girls with all oru other pets alone, two dogs, a rabbit, and a guniea pig. We let her "hold" double d by putting her hadn on her back while I have double d secure in my hands. we allow pettin any time she wants to (of course again shes secure in my hands) and then straight hand washing. AFter talking to our vet and to our doctor. I was completly confident, i was told it would take more of a hand to poo hand to mouth for them to even get the chance of gettign samolilla, i feel we have more chance getting it from chicken than from our girl. We do inforce hand washing right after touching. But if you are a responsible parent and responsible pet owner just like any other animal they can live togheter happily .
: Have any of you had a baby or have taken care of a baby while having an ig? I was on this one site, and somebody wrote that they were about to have a baby and people have told her to get rid of her ig because it was too much of a health risk for the baby. I was just wondering about this cause sometime in the future I would like to have kids, and this health risk has me concerned. Can babies/young kids and igs live together?
: Also, is antibacterial soap and a good hand washing enough to disinfect yourself after handling an ig, or do you need something stronger? thanks.
