We "advertise" the iguana listings on our local herp society webpage, our website and by word of mouth. We have a standard adoption package that we use -it includes a brief, on page "what to be preapred for" but does not include any specifics on how to care for iguanas and an adoption application that asks detailed questions -if you want I can email you a copy. The reason we do not give details with the application is that we want to see what people already know, not what they can copy from a sheet of paper. If the paper application looks good, we then talk to them on the phone, we invite them over and if we get a good feeling we then agree to deliver the iguana to them. If they are not set up properly for the iguana, we do not leave it with them. Also, we do not let them sign the adoption agreement (that says they will call us any time they need help or if they feel they can no longer provide a home for the iguana) until we are in their house and everything looks okay.

We do not house any of the iguanas together and try to have a completely seperate room for new commers so in the event they have mites or another communicable ailment the others are "safe". This isn't always easy as most of the time we are full beyond capacity -let's jsut put it this way, I no longer have a dinding room lol Housing them together presents a miriad of problems we just don't want to deal with.

I wish there was some better advice we could offer you. Your heart is defnetly in the right place and it seems to me that you are going into this with your eyes wide open! Good luck and please let us know how things go! If we can ever been of any help, don't hesitate to drop us an email.
